Conor Coady

Coadys practice sets to make the unseen internal an external physical experience. Through his work he aims to investigate oppressive social structures that queer individuals are subject to referencing both historic and contemporary Ireland. His work currently resides with combining the Irish landscape with the queer body as context to the work. Through the medium of performance art the body is used as a tool to mine key concepts and develop a new language through the body and gesture. The body is used as a creative source and charged object incorporating improvised movement and choreography. Chosen materials are selected for metaphorical use and reference. Through the artists process selected materials and themes are de-constructed and re-constructed. These materials act as props in the performance works interacting with the body creating a dialogue between body, material and action. Other used mediums include video, photography and drawing.
