This workshop is now cancelled

Tutor: Frank Golden

Timeline: 5 consecutive Wednesdays starting from May 5th 2021 from 19.00  -20.30 pm (GMT)

€110

This course is aimed principally at those who have written a little poetry in the past, but perhaps not for some time, or for those commencing their exploration of poetry as a sense-making and absorbing art practice.

The principal emphasis will be on getting course participants to write original poems. There will be writing exercises conducted in class facilitating the opening up of the creative subconscious, and writing assignments to be completed between classes. Maintaining a writing journal will also be encouraged.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The focus of this course is on the development of writing skills, with an emphasis on the student’s own work while at the same time highlighting contemporary models. A group email will be established for the sharing of work. Participants will be expected to write up short critiques of each other’s work. Writers write but they also read. Suggestions for further reading will come from both the facilitator and from course participants.
