Ling Liu
This research project includes the artwork 韵 echo and a series of artworks titled Hearing Rhythm, Seeing Rhythm. The research investigates the rhythmic rules of traditional Chinese poetry and the integrated relationship between sound and imagery in the overarching context of Chinese aesthetics. With the sonic-visual space I build in each stage of the investigation, I reclaim the pre-modern Chinese history and the traditional culture, and establish a form of contemporary Chinese art from a Chinese perspective.
