Masters of Fine Art at Burren College of Art

Master of Fine Art (MFA)

The Aims of the MFA

The MFA aims to advance knowledge in and through the fine arts, and through art research to prepare students for fine arts practice on graduation.

This is an ideas-based programme in which fine art is regarded as a unique method of enquiry that leads to the generation of new knowledge or contributions to understanding. Our students integrate innovative studio practice and critical and theoretical enquiry within an intelligent and imaginative practice. Therefore, this programme is inter-disciplinary in approach and is different from the many masters' programmes in which students specialise in a medium with teaching being focused on techniques. What students specialise in on the Burren College of Art MFA is their own creativity and artistic identity.
