Colin Matthes, MIAD, June 2006 Group Study AbroadOne Month Group Study AbroadHome faculty accompany participating groups, enabling students to continue their home study schedules in a new and stimulating environment. Generally two faculty members accompany a group providing two courses for 6 credits over the four-week period. During the summer period supplemental courses taught by our Burren College of Art faculty can be available by arrangement, usually in module format for a number of weekly contact hours to suit specific group needs. Possible subjects include:
Credit is offered by the home college. A guided tour of the Burren, a storytelling session in Newtown Castle and set dancing in the barn at Kilfenora are organised by the college to initiate students into the social and cultural life of the area. Visits to the theatre and local cultural events can be included in the programme also. Weekend tours to Dublin, Galway, the Aran Islands, Kerry and other destinations in Ireland can also be arranged on request. BCA organises student accommodation and airport transfers from Shannon Airport. In addition to regular full-time students, the Group Study Abroad programme is ideally suited to continuing education or adult education programmes. Alumni groups are also welcome.
